The last word

what shall be your last word spoken

what shall be that last word said

will there be a soft one listening

there beside your final bed

..

or if you would leave on some non descript day

will the word be a mumble as you rush on your way

as you kiss her, fleeting, on a passing cheek

“pickup my dry cleaning, it’s been over a week”

..

week?

..

so much hurrah over baby’s first word

yet of grandad’s last, who knows; no one heard

no one leaned into the crackles of fading breath

to decipher his utterances

welcoming

death

..

what shall be your last word spoken

what shall be that last word said

speak as if that last day arrives

so fleeting is life

on fragile thread

..

For Soriah…. I was listening x

Bliss

Remove the blindfold from your heart

your first sunset intently behold

as raw, stinging tears flow

reflecting gold

remove the iron shackles

clasping ankles

and

run

soles to sharp stones

with blade edges nudging bones

know

all wounds will heal

the scars a proud reveal

offer your heart two colourful kites

so she may be lifted

buoyant to prevailing winds

to be carried any which way

in tumbling, rainbow ribboned sway

let her tread in the frigid sea

arms up

frantically

not for the lifeguard’s attention

but from blessed elation

with mouthfuls of brine

a smile curled in wave shine

thus emancipated

is the heart reacquainted

with

bliss

Fainting

and if you should fall suddenly

into the vast cerulean blue

remember first to grab my hand

and i shall follow you

for the sky is vast this day

and impeccably alluring

my dearest one, let’s swim again

a firmament float enduring

and as the air grows thin

lips shall meet

and breathe me in

from giddy thought

to last embrace

consciousness slipping

you’ll see my face

To catch a Star

This night I near captured a star

nestling her reflection

her still water perfection

with calm hands

cupping her brilliance

her light years’ resilience

but with mortal impatience

my fingers start to tremble

with ripples of longitudinal shear

betraying intentions assembled

and her lustrous nocturnal glow

fuses as molten silver

slipping into the cool depths below

Moon Song

Wake up…

I’m the light at your window ledge

the translucent dimmed rays

by yonder garden hedge

I’ll soothe you in delicate lunar shine

as tendrils a twinkle over eyelash meet

cajoled in dreams to be ever mine

then drip heavy with nectar, my sweet

Before dawn I’ll fade into the infant blue

slipping gently from the ebony cloak of night

toiling with tides as I bid you adieu

a love weary, cratered satellite

Green symphony

Finding rich solace

beside the moss tinged splintered bark

of the scarred Sequoia

Sit I

Under a haphazardly sprung canopy

where shy saplings shimmer sway

to an inperceptible breeze

as finned ferns

unfurl

Web strands catch tunneled sunbeam

“see me, yet disturb me not” in stunning symmetry

And evening bird clamor couples with

muted wing percussion

in Shinrin-yoku delight

A rhapsody in green

opening night!
