Lachrymose

so frail now

your fingertips in mine

supported gently

parchment paper skin

venous rivers slow, tepid within

..

as the sand slowly sifts

i squeeze

i try to halt the final grains, yet

this maudlin hourglass only drains

to somber clock tick

sentry gated soldiered seconds fall

the war is over

all is lost

that is all

..

a last dawn

this last day

as curtains part

your light slips away

Tortured

disturb me not when I write

for I seek answers in the night time sky

between wisped clouds

that pass,

by and by

as moonlit parchment draws my quill

poised in shadow

trembling still

a cursive trail of sanguineous ink

tell me true

what dost though think

of these tortured, bloodied late hour pages ?

recounting anguish

on sordid stages

Dust

when my world

spins against your clouds

birds will fall, breathless from the sky

and magnetic poles derange

with n’er a reason why

no longer shall the moon

coax the tide with cyclic draw

no spring, nor seasons come

all lost to time before

the stagnant sun shall blush

and melt the amber sky

as the desert winds’ soft hush,

shall fall still,

then oasis dry

Every night

I found a poem I did not write

With my own hand, cruel words of spite

Addressed to you, I did not send

My shattered heart I will now tend

Yet every night, roused from my sleep

I’ll wake to paper cuts so deep
I found a song I could not play

And from the stage, I slipped away

Denying notes I’d surely known

Molto allegro now disowned

Yet every night, roused from my rest

TheĀ forlorn melody beats in my chest
