oh yes I can whip the words
bring them to their knees
crack the cat ‘o nine tails
across syllables, diseased
observe the line break
conjugate, then subjugate
.
submerge them under bobbing apples
will they float as oily residue?
or settle into the murk where they belong
leaden lyrics of a funereal song
.
so swirl dust whispers in an airless room
letters catching the crack of light
then rest with mold on parchment tomb
lost of worth…
a translational plight
such volatile vapors
vexed by night
.
when words are shreds , untrue, obtuse
prepare the gallows
unfurl the noose

You are the only one who can strip, color and transform words and give them a new identity…each more beautiful than the last one. This is a pure delight to read at the end of the day.

Give Diana a minimal set of words and she will concoct magic with a few strokes of her pen. That said, I find this one of those poems that feels good to read but which leaves me struggling for meaning, more so towards the end. A wonderful read, which demands to be read again!

Oh, if the meaning is a struggle then I should clear the air in the dusty room, or filter that water so the light shines through. Thanks ESP 😊
The theme here is communication, between lovers or close friends… when one party begins to sense the untruths. Then the only option is that the perpetrator faces the gallows! For without honesty the very value of words is diminished …. a crime!

Ah..this comment (and explanation) comes like a stream of light dispersing the motes within ESP, illuminating the words and conjures up the images..the noose unfurls around the meaning. Thanks so much for obliging your un-poetly fan 🙂

Can I just say, SLAY! 💃
Being greeted this morning with an ever vibrant you and your colourful words here, so different from the usual style of writing. This has more spunk than serenity, yet retains, if not enhances, the significance that always reside in your poems. Love it! 💟

Yes there was some serious slaying going on here as I typed with fire in my thoughts!
Words hold such great value (I’m a worshipper of the highest order, thus my visits to the Church of Ishaisms) that the mere notion that they can be bandied about with disingenuous motivation irks me. And I’m not talking about public figures and the blatant lies of politicians, I’m referring to the tragedy of one on one. How one can lock into a gaze and utter untruths when so intimate with another. Such words sink, such words lose their worth and become buried to rot.
🙋🏻♀️ Rant over. I think! 🤪💜💖

Wow you just create such splendid magic with words! Truly magical! I wondered if the words created these images and feelings – or- if some feelings and images brought these words through you. They all become the same and come laced with glitter as if!

Oh what a true delight to be the object of your attention today my dear friend…
I would have to admit that it is the feelings and thoughts that precipitated the words … this so often happens with the ebb and flow of the day to day.
And speaking of glitter your words shower me with it 😘❤️❤️

Are you a reader of Madeleine L’Engle? I think she was the writer who said we begin to die when our vocabulary diminishes.
How you two would need no translator.

How can you manage to turn something as simple as words into such an amazing exquisite extraordinary poem about them… Of all the people I know, only you have the prowess to achieve something like this… I’m still in awe reading this poem…
This is the third or fourth time I’m going through it, all over again!! 🙏🙏🙏

It takes commitment and allowing your feelings to flow. When I was younger I was way too distracted with the possibilities of the world to be patient enough to write. Now I’m calmer … well a bit haha!
I have no doubt you will harness the wild words as you already express yourself so honestly in interactions 😊💖

This is powerfully written. I sense rage and intolerance of truth for deception and lies and I love the portrayal around it.. using a physical means such as gallows and noose to strangle the untrue words said, before they do more harm…..
This is a master piece Diana…!! ❤ ❤

You’re a good expressionist Diana. I guess this is a good way to channel anger. Using a cleverly crafted analogy that is.
