Elemental

my mood pivots on words

that pirouette on your tongue

sulphur on a deflagrating spoon

heat is applied over faltering flame

your sentiments the pure oxygen

inciting this crisp, blue shame

now sealed in a conical flask

resolute oxidation set to outlast

the periodic, elemental charm

of unstable compounds set to disarm

to distract us

from the covalent bonded

attraction we cannot deny

our bunsen heat dialled to low

our indiscrete love froths to overflow

      1. Yes.. Physics is my cup of tea..Β  I also can’t deny..
Without chemistryΒ  no cup of tea..( chemistry of reaction between coffeeΒ  (C 8 H 10 N 4 OΒ  )Β  , sugar *C12H22O11* and milk. )
So I use chemistry often in Physical chemistry.

  1. Haha, so this is what happens when us nerds turn to 50 shades πŸ˜†.
But in all seriousness, I love it. You’ve an amazing talent for weaving such playfulness into your writing, and despite it, or maybe because of it, you keep that wonderful sexy quality throughout.

    1. Oh Peter … how nice to see you in these parts again. Pull up a chair and let me buy you a … glass of the finest this establishment has to offer. Your visits are rare; your words are like those of a dear old friend. I hope your summer is full of good company and cheer! πŸ’œ

  2. Ah my friend, for a Bunsen turned so low there would appear to be a disproportionate level of heat ! Highlights for me

    ‘my mood pivots on words
    that pirouette on your tongue’

‘heat is applied over faltering flame
    your sentiments the pure oxygen
    inciting this crisp, blue shame’

    ‘attraction we cannot deny
our bunsen heat dialled to low
our indiscrete love froths to overflow’
    So most of it then………

Part mercurial minx, part sciency seductress’
always an alchemist of word. xo

    1. Hugs to you dear poet! Some 24 hours after your last post and I’m still bathing in the afterglow of the chemistry of souls dancing. Wonderful talking to you β™₯️

  3. Oh my! Who knew science could be so sensual? 😏 Then again, we’re talking about chemistry here… Needless to say, your phrases are novel! “Crisp, blue shame” ❀

    1. Laughing out loud here….I could imagine Erica’s gruff voice, and head thrown back guffaw! Pretty sure she left an empty cigarette pack in the lab… next to Duke’s lost cufflink. How did she get the passcode? All a mystery wafting with the stale nicotine odour of the room. And what did the cleaner hear?

      1. Ahhahahha! It doesn’t get better than this! πŸ˜‚ How do I star this one, Diana? Lord Almighty, look who went overboard… Erica? Nah. Diana! Passcode… Hmm.. Do you think the FBI finally read our chat? 😱 I knew we should’ve stopped mentioning them πŸ˜›
I could read this over and over again! Cigarettes and Cufflinks πŸ˜‰

      2. Isn’t Erica ex FBI and wasn’t she β€œexcused” from her position for dubious intelligence extraction methods? There is a sordid short story here and my mind is whirring!
There was a blindfold left behind also.

      3. We needs this story, Precious! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜πŸ™Œ Even though I can pretty well imagine what happened.. Lol. Probably why she moved herself towards less challenging, handsome, young dudes who aren’t intimidated by all the shades of her Grey hair πŸ˜›

      4. Trading comical quips with you on a sweltering Monday evening, with a little melted chocolate in hand … is supreme entertainment!!!! I’m so happy Erica found her way to the lab, and you to my nerdy poem sweet lady!
Party in da house (when Duke wakes up!). πŸ˜˜πŸ˜˜πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ•πŸ˜‡

  4. You are an incredible poet, my dear friend D, and always inspire my inner poet goddess!! Your pithy diction and imagery were astounding. Take, for example, the opening two lines β€œmy mood pivots on words/
that pirouette on your tongue” floored me. Wowzies! Always a pleasure to read from you! Hope your days have even grand and full of dreams! πŸ˜ŽπŸ’œ

    1. Grander was my day the moment your words arrived dear K! Wow, just a little floored here… because people are polite on WordPress, a sweet etiquette between writers it seems, but… to read “you are an incredible poet” has such an effect. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚
A year ago I wasn’t even sure I could string a jumble of words that another soul might even like ….. thank you so much for your positivity you always place in your words ❀ I am the lucky one!

      1. We do have a great community of writers; but I’ve always believed in leaving the kind of comments I’d like to read…but it’s more than that. We should support and compliment each other when we can. Just doing my civic duty lol πŸ˜ŠπŸ’œ
