every time you tell me a lie
another tile falls from the temple of trust
and blunt fingernails trail
along the rough mortar of my insecurities
—
what can we do to rebuild the precarious frame
of filigree fractures?
a teetering, deceit infused structure
a childβs dollhouse of
faded pastel plastic
attic abandoned
a sandcastle askew
in the path of a solo beachcomber
tripping at dusk
Well written.

Yes, the disintegration of the fibers that bind us can be felt — and they hurt — when lies come tearing through. You describe well the warped imbalance when trying to maintain through such a painful process.

The space of trust is indeed as sacred as a temple of purity. And somehow along with its strength, it has this delicateness to it that when cut with lies, it can be deeply painful. Truth then becomes lonely …
So beautifully you weave your words that we know the feeling yet see it gently.
Reminded me of a poem of my own. I wished you read it my friend π

I enjoyed your poem very much, and always, always, your words to me. I’m thinking of the tragic beauty of your “trust cut with lies” comment. I feel the stinging of such a phrase.
My heart smiles when I see your name … β€

You are a beautiful gentle soul dear Diana. I tend to be on the harsher side with words of truth. That is why I admire your ability to lay it down ever so gently on us. Hopefully I soften overtime.
You are a joy to me in this space π

Sometimes a poem is too good to be dissected and perused… Sometimes the images, the metaphors and the analogies, are to be seen and felt, not talked about.. And sometimes, when a piece is too masterful, one must let oneself bathe in its colours and magnificence for it is beyond ordinary appraisal… One must let the magic linger longer.
This poem, is just pure magic Diana! It was worth the wait! I believe, no, I know, there is no poet like you in the world… β€πΌ Frame calls for a frame in the hall of your fame!

Somewhere, in the dim halls of my amateur, poetic career … there will be a few framed hangings of the most beautiful things people have written. Your words will be there Isha, with a rare, antiqued gilt frame. And I will stop and humbly read every time I walk by. ππΈπ

Two things I know for sure… The hall will be lit up, and, you are not amateur by any standards πβ€
Having cleared that out, let me comment on that beautiful reply… For you to cherish my comments in that way is an achievement for me… Which reader has ever got a prized place in their favourite writer’s Hall/heart? Your message is touching and sentimentally beautiful ππΌ Thank-you sweet Lady π

I feel this poem….such a deep sense of melancholia you have forged here….loved the reference to abandoned attic and of beachcomber collecting and preserving the trail of steps that once spiraled its way into a heart so welcoming and trusting….
Trust fades but hope remains.

What a great way to express the feelings of betrayal that lies bring! We have all felt that betrayal and it destroys a little bit of us each time someone we love lies to us.
