Petals

a sybaritic desire

to thrill you with my words

to lay them at your feet

bougainvillea petals

falling free from the stem

with spurious inflorescence

gather them and know they are for you

..

i’ll hide the thorns of course

bury them deep in palm flesh

to seraphic sting, no remorse

with blood droplets

exquisitely smeared across lips

adding

crimson

subtracting

all the reasons why

we cannot be

  2. I am taking bougainvillea leaves. I googled and found that I’ve been familiar with this plant since my early childhood. I used to imagine stories. The triplets of petals have three small buds–the father, mother and the son or the father, son and the holy ghost. Crimson beauty–what a beautiful splash of ending as you insinuate thorns–though only slightly.

      1. Thanks gorgeous goddess. I would try to make that ‘a little’ into ‘a lot’ and that ‘perhaps’ in ‘sure’ and that ‘even’ should be equalized. I am so lucky to have found you here πŸ™‚ ❀

I inhaled The Real in the Unreal today at work. I like catching Isha-isms during my day. Glancing on my work breaks πŸ™‚

      3. Do not take the shine away from the Petals, do not taint their bloom with praises showered anywhere else… Let them sparkle with dew drops of affection from your readers, and a shower of sparkling rain from me! πŸ’ŸπŸ’§ 🌸

  3. Exquisite Diana, the second thorn motif intrigues me. I’m not suggesting this is ‘your’ thought process just what is mine. It makes me think of ‘doomed’ romance, the kind you know will end in tears but is so beautiful you file the bad away. There is even a frisson of added spice in knowing and allowing the thorns to prick. I’ll stop there !
    Wonderful piece.

  5. With the tongue of truth I speak, with a thought you blossom, with words well selected and space well used, you pour into empty vessels your muse. a soft voice has spoken and love has not had enough, but knows It must protect, and the protection is knowing it must stop. This brings to mind, just because I love, does not obligate me to be with the one I love. Thank you!

    1. I’m going to send you some super absorbent Canadian winter grade tissues for such moments. I have been using them this evening, having bouts of blue concerning the subject of tonight’s reblog. To feel is something beautiful.. but to feel too much? Sigh. Hugs to you lovely V for your attention πŸ€—πŸ’œπŸ’œ

      1. oh thank you! And I am not at all surprised that you would be feeling blue! I don’t believe you are feeling too much, do you? I think our world is so desensitised we may have lost our perspective on some of that?
Hugs back dear Lady…I’m going to email

  7. Love emanates from your words in powerful, flowery whiffs.
To send word of our love or not to send, that is the question.

It feels good to lift that weight off of our shoulders and linger in the reciprocated feelings in case of a positive response, but it can also feel liberating to sweep it off of our every waking thought in case of a negative one.

So I say go for it and write a note to self at once – “follow own advice and grow some courage” ^^
