Wilted

I have all the time in the world

for you

Which is to say

Iโ€™ve found a little fertile patch of ground

Sheltered from the sear of the day

And there place, with gentle press

You, single seed

In state of pre-pumule* undress

..

But the early spring

Is cooler

than most

And the frigid ground

a near inhospitable host

for your translucent roots

..

So you turn from my hesitant gaze

You course through weeds,

their maze

a convolute of root and thorn

such wayward course, I try to warn

..

you

wilted shoot

I shall not mourn

*The plumule is the part of a seed embryo that develops into the shoot bearing the first true leaves of a plant.

  1. โค gorgeous lines my D! You are such a wordsmith. Weaving strong beautiful emotions at the tip of your hands. Life, nurturing love, hope and heartbreaking death, then resolve to move past it. Denial instead of mourn.
Wait wait we can do anything we want in our worlds of words. Let me sprinkle a bit of fantasy of it all. There you are see my hand extending, lips parting, and lungs blowing tiny particles of fairy matter and reviving that shoot back to life.

    1. What truly touching words to read before sleep. I knew that all was not lost for the little weed, it was merely wilted but I had to prepare a steely resolve in case the pain of loss was imminent.

Your magic imbued scattered breath has completely revived the slender threaded shoot. Thank you for your attention, your care and real world friendship! You are a very dear heart B!

      1. โค I care for nature, seeds and flowers very dearly my D.. Saving one is a privilege that my very human hand is so honoured to wield.

On with the tap pouring salvaging liquid in jug, downed in turn into the tiny, thirsty plot of earth, bringing organic matter back to life.
Just know our friendship is a seed I shall preciously nurture โค

  2. I love nature in poetry, which is made even more beautiful by your rhyming skills!
I was just rolling the homonym radicle around my head the other day, which is the part of a plant embryo that develops into the primary root, so it seems weโ€™re on parallel wavelengths. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Hey Erich! Thanks as you are correct about our converging wavelengths. Your friend doesnโ€™t move too far from nature, or the universe or science. Although Iโ€™m rusty and googling left right and centre haha! Happy New Year my friend! ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘‹
