if i arch my back, just so
you will hear the gutteral crack
of ribs splaying
and thunder peal
confined to a distant canyon
observe the blood rivulet flow
tinted crimson
from rhodonite glow
did you think of yourself as some indelible mark on my being?
how easily I’ve erased your ochred pigments
from my crumbled cave walls
Lascaux?
indeed no
you were only the sharpest point of the trident
ending some turgid trilogy of torment
so stand back
drop the Finochietto*
little blood, no gore
though you expected more
your surgical precision
met with
phlegmatic derision
*a type of surgical retractor designed to separate ribs in chest surgery. Named after Argentinian surgeon Enrique Finochietto
So beautifuly, articulately and cleverly you share your ideas and emotions, Diana π Another wonderful poem, thank you for sharing so much!

This takes me back to Six Feet Under and it’s tagged under relationships. La mort de l’auteur Diana. But it is articulated well in a very painfully gruesome manner I guess.

I was hoping more for gruesomely painful.
Which is very short lived for me. In an hour I shall be writing in a Nitin chuckle inducing manner.

Great imagery and wonderfully visceral! Iβm both repulsed and intrigued by the thought of ribs cracking while splayed. The horror enthusiast in me gives two thumbs up. π

Thanks Erich! I like to throw some gentle macabre into the mix occasionally. Itβs interesting to see who comments depending on the subject eh?

Wow, now that is some very powerful words and imagery π², and a wonderfully offputting picture to go along with them. Gory, gruesome and macabre, yet, still somehow beautiful (hmmm, sometimes I wonder if there might be something wrong with me π ). You are a true wordsmith, able to shape and fold these noises we make deep in our throats into the most beautiful of sculptures.

I feel the pain evoked through the intricate imagery you put there Diana.
This is intriguing and alluring and astounding at the same time.
How wonderfully you have written the hurt and yearning so perfect.

Itβs a little harsh isnβt it? Ouch, my chest is still sore. I hope it wasnβt too unpleasant to bear.
But the write was worth it to read your wonderful response here, sweet pea! Thankful for your exquisite friendship and loyalty πΈπΈπ

It is a little heart breaking, but heart break is beautiful in its own way isnβt it?

Yes, it is… yet itβs best flavour is when it fades. Let the memories still be there but replaced by a resounding love that overshadows everything. xx

Such a powerful piece!!
How it reveals of a body’s acceptance and acknowledgement of the stains speared on her innocent skin… In … through … and out ….but that doesn’t stop the soul, this body contains, to flourish and heal those wounds with time but keeping the scars intact as a lesson… as a memory… as a reason why she moved on!!
You are the best Dearest D….!!!!

Itβs so wonderful to know that you fully immerse yourself in my words … there can be no greater praise for a writer. Iβm wholly thankful.
I wanted to convey the weariness of repeated assaults to the heart by poor choices. But the heart fills and beats strong because the scars are not deep in retrospect. All part of the journey we must travel.

Its idk you left me speechless love. All the others hv said I do agree to. To me most of all its just raw emotions, the past hurt, the now strenghth, the perfect reflection of betrayal from the one you trusted and then the person moving one with head held high. Sayin buddy u thought you break me, well try again… U can’t…. π
